The Client
Corporate Mailing Services Inc. is a medium-size document management and mailing firm based in Baltimore, Maryland. CMS specializes in presorting and mail commingling services for large organizations and business around the country. Additionally, CMS performs printing, document drafting, packaging, and facility management for their clients in a variety of sectors and industries.
The Challenge
CMS came to BTG looking for ways in which improving their web presence could have positive impacts on their business. Like many small and medium-sized companies, CMS had created an initial and limited website during the Internet boom of the late-1990s. Today, almost a decade later, CMS's homepage had failed to adapt to the changing face of the Internet. The company's webpage stood as an antiquated and incomplete marker for their business online.
As with many of our small and medium-business clients, CMS did not understand the dramatic effects that a robust and strategically-deployed website can have for any company. Furthermore, CMS did not know where to turn to receive enterprise-level website development and management that was cost-effective and adaptable to their firm's unique needs.
BTG provides the same level of world-class technology consulting and development to all of our clients, whether large or small. After meeting with CMS's management, BTG was prepared to provide CMS with numerous services in substantially upgrading and revamping their web presence, including:
  1. Concept Mapping and Planning – BTG provided CMS with a long-term plan for their corporate web presence, helping them to allocate their business resources appropriately and maximize the positive results of our work with their team.
  2. Website Development – Our team redesigned and substantially upgraded CMS's website, incorporating the latest in emerging web technologies.
  3. Technology Strategy Consulting Services – BTG provided CMS with full-picture technology strategy consulting to explore and capitalize on ways that technology can provide valuable results for their business.
The Solution
Concept Mapping and Planning

CMS came to BTG with a desire for greater insight into the optimal web technology strategy for their firm. BTG provided CMS with a complete Blueprint to map out the strategic technological course for their business. Our team met with CMS management and personnel to learn as much as possible about their mailing business. Our expert consultants combined the findings of employee interviews with our extensive experience in web technology development to create a customized project plan for our client.
BTG found that CMS was failing to utilize unique offerings that its competitors could not match. However, in order to effectively target clients who could make use of these special aspects of CMS's business, the client would need a firm online sales channel to reach a nationwide locus of potential customers.

Additionally, our consultants concluded that a revamped web presence for CMS would have a marked impact in retaining and expanding contracts with their pre-existing clients, as a professional web front would convey greater corporate growth, capability, and proficiency. Our team gave CMS a full view of the strategies that lay ahead, to help our client make an informed decision on how to deploy its technological resources and initiatives.

Website Development

BTG set about the task of redesigning CMS's website, creating a mailing services web portal for visitors and customers. BTG's design team created multiple drafts of different visions for the finished site. These versions provided the client with the opportunity to explore various approaches to the overall site concept. Following successive versioning, and conferencing with the client's management team, BTG's designers finalized a look and feel for the overall portal.

Using BTG's InSite Methodology™, our team created an overarching motif behind the site itself. Through personal interviews and focus groups, the site was created to target CMS's core demographic of business clients. BTG's aesthetic transition consultants were brought in to help build off the existing client brand and enrich the foundational previous site rather than cannibalizing the existing brand identity.

Ultimately, our team created a website optimized for the primary uses that CMS required. All website content generated by BTG was created with search engine and sales methodologies in mind. The site layout was concise and effective, conveying the message of professionalism and ability that the client desired.
Technology Strategy Consulting Services
Following the successful completion of CMS's website, BTG continued to provide general technology consulting services to their company, to aid our client in better using technology to create positive results. Our team assisted CMS with domain acquisition, website hosting, email solutions, and technology security services.

Throughout our project with CMS, our team provided a superior level of dedication and support for our client. As a small business, we recognized their need for close communication, cost-effective measures, and immediate results. These are just a few of the core values and beliefs that make up the BTG level of service, which we provide all our clients, no matter how large or small.
